Ørjan Nilsen and Fingerling channel their love for funky tech house grooves with the launch of their new collaborative project, Melo Mechanics.
Ørjan Nilsen and Fingerling aren’t just longtime friends; they’re two of the hottest exports from the Norwegian dance music scene. While both artists have carved out their own paths, they have regularly joined forces to bring some fantastic trance and mainstage-fueled tunes to life, including “1 Like You,” “U Gotta,” “Fable,” and more. Now, they’ve teamed up on an even more official level with the launch of their new project, Melo Mechanics.
“[Fingerling] and I have always been into dance music’s more techy and funky side, so we wanted to make something together and focus on the more underground and groovy styles,” Ørjan Nilsen shared about the project. “Being friends for decades made collaboration very easy. We dream of touring together and showing our interpretation of house music.”
It was during the COVID lockdown that they decided to venture into the house music world together, with Fingerling stating that at that time, it was “like a now or never feeling for me.” This led to an icon in the scene, Fedde Le Grand, hearing their demos as Melo Mechanics, and he quickly signed them to Darklight Records.
Now, the world can get a glimpse of what these two Norwegians have been cooking up with the release of their debut single under the Melo Mechanics project, “Gets Hard.” This vocal-forward house tune packs a punch with its shuffling groove, funky bassline, and layers of techy elements that make it perfect for any dancefloor.
