P.O.U: “Melodic House and Techno is Our Foundation, It’s What We Do Best”

in Interview, Featured Interview

We caught up with UK house and techno producers P.O.U to talk about their latest album, Breathe, the global melodic wave, and life on the road.

UK-based melodic house and techno duo P.O.U (which stands for Product Of Us) have spent the past few years shaping the emotional contours of modern club music. The pair make music that drifts between shadow and light, often standing in the delicate space between euphoria and melancholy.

Over the years, their releases have found a home on some of the most respected labels such as Anjunabeats, Armada, Siona Records, and Purified. With the launch of their imprint Of Us Records in 2019, P.O.U stepped into a bold new chapter of their artistic journey by setting the pace for what was to come in melodic techno.

Following a string of standout singles this year — including the successful collaboration “Million Miles Away” with Miss Monique — P.O.U are now unveiling their debut album, Breathe. Spanning 12 tracks, the album takes listeners through a rich journey of progressive house, melodic house, and techno. In addition, the record features collaborations with artists like Jamie Wiltshire, Emilie Rachel, Rory Hope, Oddfellowz, SPARTAA, and Zahra Palmer, each bringing a dynamic balance of deep rhythmic flow and emotional introspection to the project.

With a jam-packed tour calendar and a brand new album under their belt, P.O.U are gearing up for a breakout year. As they prepare for an epic life on the road with stops in Malta, Ibiza, London, Barcelona, Florence, Dubai, and India, we caught up with the duo to talk about their production process, dance music culture, and what this next chapter really means. Read on to learn more about P.O.U and listen to Breathe on Spotify or your favorite platform.

Hey Damion and Ryan, congratulations on the release of your debut album! It must be such an exciting moment for you both. How are you feeling now that everything is coming together?

This album has been a long time in the making. Honestly, narrowing down the tracklist wasn’t easy — we’re sitting on a ton of unreleased music. In the end, we went with a mix of some of our favourite previously released tracks and brand-new ones that really showcase the depth and range of our melodic sound. From high-energy, peak-time moments to more progressive, emotional gems, this is a true reflection of where we’re at right now.

Breathe is such a powerful title for the album. How does it reflect the journey or emotions you want listeners to experience through the songs?

“Breathe” sets the tone and pulls you straight into the P.O.U journey. The past few years have been a ride — growth, change, and a relentless pursuit of our sound. Through it all, our focus has never wavered: deliver music with meaning and the highest production quality, from the guest vocalists we collaborate with to every detail in the mix. This album is the result of that dedication.

The songs on Breathe combine many genres like progressive house, melodic house, and techno. Is there one genre that feels closest to your personal sound or creative vision?

Melodic house and techno is our foundation. It’s what we do best. We’re lucky to headline shows where we can road test our tracks during those peak-time, high-energy moments. But it’s not just about the drop — we love weaving in elements of progressive house and even breaks to give each track depth, emotion, and movement. It’s that blend that defines our sound.

P.O.U

Are there any songs on the album where you feel you really pushed the boundaries of these genres?

“Become One” hits hard with a driving beat and bassline that commands the floor. It builds into an epic breakdown that, for us, creates one of those unforgettable club moments: pure energy, pure connection. “Hide It” brings another side of the album to life. Soaring vocals, melodic riffs, and massive, club-ready sound design all come together to deliver a powerful, emotional punch. It’s a track that hits just as hard in your headphones as it does in a packed room.

You’ve held residencies at iconic venues like Ministry of Sound in London, Destino Pacha in Ibiza, and Eden in Ibiza. How would you describe the dance music culture in these places, and how does it influence your production and sound when you’re working on new music?

We’re proud to still hold down our residency at Ministry of Sound’s Future, where we also host our regular Of Us Records label nights. This May, we head back to the White Isle for another full summer run through to October. Coming off recent tours through India, Brazil, and Europe, it’s been amazing to see the love for the music and the sound stronger than ever. No matter where we go, the energy is unreal. With Of Us Records, we’re receiving demos from all over the world — and releasing them, too. In just the last year, we’ve worked with artists from Iran, Colombia, the USA, Ukraine, Canada, Ireland, the UK, and beyond. The global melodic movement is real and growing fast.

P.O.U

It must have been a massive moment for you when Tale Of Us played “Just A Little More Love” at their Afterlife residency at Hï Ibiza! What was your reaction when you first came to know about it, and did that experience impact the way you approach your music?

That was a massive highlight for us. They played the track all summer long, closing out their sets at Hï with it — every single time. Having their support meant the world, especially since they’ve been such a huge influence on our sound from the very beginning.

Coming up, you’ve so many big dates lined up for 2025, including a four-week label takeover at Eden Ibiza, an India tour, and performances in St Moritz, Malta, Barcelona, Florence, and Dubai. How are you preparing for such an exciting year ahead? Any stops that you’re most excited about?

We take it day by day — though we won’t lie, the jet lag can be brutal! But we’re incredibly grateful to do what we love and play to audiences all over the world. The Ibiza summer season is always a wild ride, packed with unforgettable moments year after year. And Malta? Always a standout. Proper crowds, top-tier production, and real love for the music. The truth is, we’re only just getting started!

Lastly, before we wrap up, can North American fans expect any performances from you in the near future?

We’re in the process of locking in our new US visas and in talks and teaming up with the right booking agent to make it all happen. US shows are coming, and soon. Stay tuned… this next chapter is just around the corner!
