Carlo Lio and M.I.T.A. bring Chasing Ghosts to Carl Cox’s Intec, breathing life back into the legendary label after a five-year release hiatus.

Turn back the clock to 1998, and you’ll find Carl Cox launching his label, Intec, to inevitably drop massive techno anthems that have continued to receive play worldwide. The label took a four-year hiatus in 2006 before relaunching in 2010, and then after another ten-year-long run, it went back on hiatus in 2020. Now, after sitting idle for the past five years, Carl Cox has breathed life back into the imprint and looked to Carlo Lio and M.I.T.A. to help usher in its new era.

Intec’s mission has long been to showcase dancefloor-shaking tunes from established artists and rising acts in the techno scene, making Carlo Lio and M.I.T.A. a perfect fit to grace the label. Canadian artist Carlo Lio has made quite a name for himself with stunning tunes on Tronic, Suara, and his own Rawthentic Music, while M.I.T.A. has also graced Tronic and Suara while also touching down on Uncage, Virgo, and more with his groove-laden soundscapes.

For this release on Intec, the two artists teamed up to create the Chasing Ghosts EP, which features three tracks that showcase different sides of the techno realm. There’s a relentless energy found in the title tracks as it powers forward for some peak-time action, effectively kick-starting the release in style. “AFREAKA!” puts deep, tribal drums at the central focus point with funky undertones that hypnotize the mind. Then, they bring the collection to a close with “The Artist’s Struggle,” which has vocals and an otherworldly atmosphere perfect for late-night hours on the dancefloor.

Listen to Chasing Ghosts on Spotify or your preferred platform, and stay tuned for more from Intec by following the label’s Instagram page.
