Update: Due to weather in the area, Breakaway Dallas has shifted its Friday performances to Sunday. Those with single-day passes for Friday can now choose to attend Saturday or Sunday. This article has been updated with the latest information.
Previously: Can you believe Breakaway Dallas is mere days away? The festival’s debut edition is set to take place at Fair Park, situated east of downtown in South Dallas on April 5-6. With a lineup that includes some of EDM’s biggest headliners, it promises to be a memorable occasion.
Night one sees SLANDER, Louis the Child, and Afrojack top the bill, not to mention supporting acts like ACRAZE, LAYZ, and Zomboy. Then, on night two, Jackie Hollander, Troyboi, Ship Wrek, and others will warm up the decks for Zedd and Gryffin. But the music is only part of the magic. Breakaway Music Festival has proven its concept at scale, expanding from a single event in Ohio to gatherings coast to coast.
Maybe the first Breakaway Dallas is also your first festival. Maybe you’re a seasoned rave veteran with hundreds of them under your belt. Either way, read the below guide from beginning to end in order to have the best time possible.

Reminder to Mind Your Belongings:
Unfortunately, many recent festival-goers have reported pickpockets, bag slashings, and theft of wallets, smartphones, purses, and other valuables. While this small number of bad apples in the bunch doesn’t define an entire crowd, some opportunistic people come to these events to take advantage of unsuspecting partygoers. It’s essential to be mindful of your valuables while at Breakaway Dallas.

Prohibited Items
- Bags larger than 14 x 6 x 14, including backpacks
- Professional camera equipment (detachable lenses, tripods, battery packs, large commercial video cameras, GoPros)
- Totems
- Umbrellas
- Individual glow sticks
- Chairs (including foldable and lawn)
- Seat cushions with backs
- Tents
- Aerosol cans, spray paint, or pressurized cans
- Frisbees and sports balls (soccer balls, footballs, etc.)
- Air horns
- Glass containers of any kind
- Selfie sticks
- Remote controlled aircraft or unmanned aircraft systems (drones)
- Weapons of any kind, including but not limited to knives, pepper spray, stun guns, concealed weapons and firearms (regardless of concealed carry permit)
- Food or beverage of any kind
- Illegal drugs, substances, or harmful chemicals
- Medical marijuana
- Laser pointers, spray paint, silly string
- Fireworks of any kind (including but not limited to flares, smoke bombs, incendiary devices, or pyrotechnics)
- Whistles
- Hoverboards
- Any item that can be used as a projectile or deemed as dangerous by the festival organizers
- No pets (service animals only)
Permitted Items
- Bags 14 x 6 x 14 or smaller; no backpacks or large bags (subject to search upon entry; exceptions made for diaper bags and breast pumps)
- Prescription medication in pharmacy bottle with a current and valid prescription to be verified by ID (includes inhalers; does NOT include medical marijuana)
- Flags WITHOUT poles
- Empty hydration packs, clear of all liquid and no more than two total pockets (one reservoir and one additional pocket), no larger than 14 x 6 x 14 each
- 1 empty, reusable water bottle per person (must be transparent plastic and no larger than 1 Liter)
- Non-aerosol sunscreen, bug spray, deodorant, hand sanitizer, wet wipes (small/travel size)
- Feminine hygiene products
- Glowing or illuminated costumes or jewelry
- Cigarettes (unopened packs only), vapes, Juuls or other electronic smoking devices
- Hula Hoops (including LED hoops), LED whips, pois and orbitals, gloves, microlights, flowlights
- Blankets, yoga mats, sheets, towels, and moon mats
- Ponchos
- Small misting fans
- Earplugs
