Drumcode boss and techno legend Adam Beyer announced that his first album in over two decades, Explorer Vol. 1, is due out this summer.
In the world of techno, whatever Adam Beyer touches seems to turn gold. Since first breaking onto the scene decades ago, this now-legendary artist has done seemingly everything under the sun. Not only has Adam Beyer released some of the most beloved and celebrated techno tunes, but he’s fostered plenty of established and rising talent on Drumcode and Truesoul while also hosting standalone events along the way.
While Adam Beyer could easily rest on his laurels, he continues to innovate and push himself forward. New singles and EPs from this mastermind have captivated fans worldwide, but there’s been something missing for over two decades in his discography: a new album. That will change this summer when Adam Beyer drops Explorer Vol. 1, his first album since the release of Ignition Key in 2002.
Much of what’s to come on Explorer Vol. 1 is a mystery. The Drumcode boss teased in his Instagram post that there will be 16 tracks that feature “new sounds” and “no boundaries,” leaving fans to wonder what soundscapes he’s crafted in the studio. That said, there is a first glimpse at the techno action that will be present, as its title track has been released for the world to hear. This peak-time techno tune features a dark, brooding beat that powers forward relentlessly as the growling vocals speak on the knowledge that comes with time.
Explorer Vol. 1 is due out on June 13 via Drumcode. Listen to its title track on Spotify and pre-save the album ahead of its release. Adam Beyer also revealed that details on the vinyl pre-order will be coming soon.
