HWIN marks the launch of his new label, 57 Records, with the release of his debut solo EP, Just Like A Flower, which features four refreshing tunes.

Turn back the clock a decade ago, and you’ll find Johnny Hwin creating fantastic electro-pop soundscapes under the Cathedrals project. Now, he’s set his sights on exploring production as a solo artist as HWIN. The first taste of this project arrived in 2023 with the release of “Metropolis Heights” on Rose Avenue Records, and now, two years later, he’s unveiled his breathtaking debut solo EP, Just Like A Flower.

Similar to the emotion-fueled soundscapes he produced as Cathedrals, the HWIN project adds a layer of depth and intimacy into the mix. Just Like A Flower has everything to love, from the first moments of “Love Is All I Need” and the stuttered beat of “You’re Still On My Mind” to the soul-stirring vocals on “I Will Release You” and the shuffle-ready nature of “Without A Frame.”

It’s a stunning debut EP, but that’s not all that HWIN had in store, as it doubled as the launch of his new imprint, 57 Records. Born out of the 57 community he has helped cultivate in New York City, which has acted as a sanctuary for artists, this label will help usher in a new artist development model with an audience-influenced mindset.

“Five years from now, I don’t just want 57 to be putting out records- I want it to be a self-sustaining creative ecosystem,” HWIN shared about the newly launched label. “A place where artists find their people, where music sparks real human connection, where underground authenticity and mainstream accessibility aren’t in conflict but feed into each other.”

There is more to come as HWIN continues his journey as a solo artist and further expands the 57 community. The label is just the latest building block for something bigger, as the brand has already amassed thousands of users on its social media platform and hosted intimate showcases in NYC featuring acts like Barry Can’t Swim and more.
