SHOSH swung by to drop off a mix in celebration of International Women’s Day which features her new tune on Deadbeats, unreleased gems, and more!
Men might have dominated the dance music scene for decades, but women are making some of the most significant moves in the current era. Take a quick glimpse at artists rocking the community in every genre and you’ll find women at the forefront. One woman rising through the ranks of the scene is SHOSH, and after a massive 2024 she’s set to make a huge splash this year.
SHOSH has been on quite a ride lately and impressive is the only word to describe her multi-faceted approach to the scene. Not only has she released tunes on labels like UKF, but she’s toured Asia, taken over the stage in Ibiza, and appeared at festivals like Glastonbury and Boomtown Fair. Beyond that, she’s also a resident presenter for KISS FM and the creative mind behind 24hr Garage Girls, a collective intent on empowering women in the scene.
Her UK Garage sound has defined much of her discography, but SHOSH’s recent releases have seen her dive into the dubstep realm for some serious gems. That aforementioned tune on UKF, “This Is Not A Test,” was hypnotic at its core and hit #1 on the Beatport charts. This paved the way for SHOSH to drop her latest single, “Skanner Power.” Out now via Deadbeats, this bass-fueled banger merges dubstep and UKG elements for an intoxicating ride you can’t help but fall in love with.
SHOSH’s presence will be felt in the US this April when she heads back across the pond for a five-night tour. But before this Chicago-born, London-based artist does that, she took some time to spin a mix filled with fresh music and curated gems to celebrate International Women’s Day in style.
International Women’s Day is such a great opportunity to discover new talent!. It’s a reminder to dig deep and find the unsung artists of our time; powerful women who are creating amazing music and building a stronger future for female artists to come! Equal representation is so important, and IWD is a huge step in the right direction. I’m very grateful to be included in the celebrations! I’ve included a lot of my unreleased music in this mix so I hope you enjoy!
