Mark Sherry Channels the Past and Looks Toward the Future on ‘TH3RTY’

in New Releases

Trance legend Mark Sherry marries the sounds of the past and present eras to create a nostalgic, future-ready sound on his sophomore album, TH3RTY.

Work hard, play hard has been the ethos of Mark Sherry for decades, and he’s seen significant success because of that. From standout releases and memorable performances to being the mastermind behind Outburst and Techburst Records, this Scottish DJ and producer has been at the forefront of the tech trance realm. Now, he’s released one of his biggest bodies of work to date, his sophomore album, TH3RTY.

Clocking in at two discs and, yes, 30 tracks in total, TH3RTY embodies everything that fans have come to love about Mark Sherry over the course of his career. Found inside both are a flurry of collaborations that feature singer-songwriters and fellow artists who have made just as much of an impact on the scene, ranging from Adara and Brienna Grace to David Forbes and The Space Brothers. Coursing through each second of TH3RTY are influences straight from the rave, whether from past or present eras, which make this album feel like a defined testament to the power of electronic music.

[TH3RTY] has been written from the heart, and it’s been written with all of YOU in mind. It’s been inspired by the raves of the ‘90s, the trance of the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, the trance and techno of the ‘10s and ‘20s—but also by the clubbers I’ve met, the places I’ve been, the friends I’ve made, the DJs who have inspired me, and the loyal promoters who keep booking me.

Standouts among the collection include Mark Sherry’s solo tunes such as “In Spirit,” “Neon City,” and “Cold Heart,” along with the entire second half of the second disc which puts his Dark Sherry alias on full display. Others, like “Heroes” with Sarah Howells, “Our Little Game” with Mallorca Lee, and “Superposition” with David Forbes, are simply sublime. You also can’t help but love Sherry’s remixes of Armin van Buuren’s “Blue Fear” and how he honored Ultra-Sonic tracks with remixes of “React,” “Obsession,” and “Love Me Right.”

Listen to TH3RTY on Spotify or your preferred platform, and stay tuned for more from Mark Sherry by following his social media channels.
