Spency Be has set his sights on territory outside of Southern California by dropping his latest EP, CCXXXIV, on European imprint Otomo Trax.

If you’ve found a home in the underground or at side stages at festivals throughout Southern California lately, you’ll more than likely have run into Spency Be at some point. This DJ, producer, and founding member of Aftertraxx has done everything from playing festivals like Escape Halloween and underground afterhours shows to releasing music and throwing parties of his own.

Today, Spency Be has dropped off CCXXXIV, the latest body of work to land in his discography and the first to arrive on Otomo Trax, effectively doubling as his international debut. “I’m excited for my first release with a label outside the US,” Spency Be shared about the release. “I am even more proud to be part of the group of artists pushing the Los Angeles scene all the way out to Europe and showing the world that US techno artists belong on the global stage.”

Spency Be kicks off this techno trip with the lead track, “Pretty Flacco,” which is currently exclusive to Bandcamp due to its sample of A$AP Rocky’s flow from “Peso.” He retains the dreamy nature and wicked vocals from the original while packing in a harder groove that makes it perfect for an underground rave.

If you love to bounce, then “In My Dreams” is the track for you. This fast-paced track drives forward relentlessly at 160 bpm with flipped vocals from Usher’s “Superstar” layered in as your mind unravels. Then, it’s time for a touch of Eurodance to shine brightly at the end as Spency Be shows off his pop-ready side on “Lowkey Trippy.” Dua Lipa’s vocals morphed over a punchy beat that feels like it’s been ripped straight out of the ’90s is a match made in heaven for those looking to lose their minds on the dancefloor.

Give CCXXXIV a listen on Spotify or grab a copy on Bandcamp, and stay tuned for more from Spency Be by following him on social media.

Grant Gilmore’s authoritative voice as a media professional lends credibility not common to EDM journalism. As the founder of EDM Identity he has effectively raised the bar on coverage of the past decade’s biggest youth culture phenomenon. After ten years of working for nonprofit organization Pro Player Foundation, Gilmore launched EDM Identity as a media outlet offering accurate informative coverage of the rave scene and electronic music as a whole. Although they cover comprehensive topic matter, they have taken special care in interviewing the likes of Armin van Buuren, Adventure Club, Gorgon City, Lane 8 and Afrojack. In addition to household names, they have also highlighted unsung heroes of the industry through their ID Spotlight segment.
