In the spirit of capturing intimate moments, LP Giobbi has released her first live album in tandem with an extended set recording.

LP Giobbi has dropped her first live album, The Way Back Home Tour, on Ninja Tune’s imprint Counter Records. As a counterpart to this live album release, she has also delivered The Way Back Home Tour: Live From Denver, a multi-cam live recording from Mission Ballroom.

The Way Back Home Tour album incorporates songs from her two studio albums, Light Places and Dotr. When you press play, the atmosphere fills with exclusive sounds that she prepared especially for The Way Back Home tour.

The live album begins with an intro blended into “Until There’s Nothing Left” off Dotr. Later on, she fuses “Waiting,” a 2023 single with DJ Rae and Redfield, with “All I Need,” which appeared on Light Places. She also gifts her fans a recognizable recording of a still unnamed ID alongside another track from Light Places, “Can’t Let You Go” featuring Little Jet.

The Way Back Home Tour: Live From Denver is a revolutionary piece of music history capturing the magic of the producer’s November 30 stop in Colorado. LP Giobbi performs an inspired rendition of “Drums in Space” at the crux of her Denver set. The significant nod to the Grateful Dead’s musical canon is further alchemized by DOM from Big Gigantic jamming out on saxophone. An odd, autotune-esque voice belts the lyrics, “What a long, strange trip it’s been,” as the drums morph and warp.

LP Giobbi then plunges into a euphoric live piano jam followed by a bubbly, angelic guitar sample from the late Dead legend Jerry Garcia. Further on, she drops into a bold mashup of Joy Orbison‘s “flight fm” and Talking Heads’ classic “Burning Down the House.” It’s safe to say that LP Giobbi continues to push the envelope of fresh sounds, infusing the dancefloor with a revived wave of hippie energy.

LP Giobbi is an innovative force within dance music. Her sound both honors and furthers the thread of music and community that sprouted out of 1960s counterculture and social movements. She deftly defies the arbitrary line between jam and electronica, authentically blending her connection to the Dead with a devastating combo of live instrumentation and club bangers.

The Way Back Home Tour: Live From Denver is out on YouTube now. You can also find studio albums Light Places, Dotr, and a free download of live album The Way Back Home Tour on Bandcamp.
