Martin Garrix to Play “Less Shows,” “Release More Pop” in 2025

If a recent interview is any indication, Martin Garrix fans can expect some changes from the Dutch superstar this year.

Martin Garrix has remained one of the most consistent purveyors of EDM since his 2013 breakout single “Animals” put him on the map at age 17. Starting in 2025, he may focus his energy elsewhere judging by his remarks during a recent interview.

In conversation with Radio RFM MAXX in Poland, Martin Garrix (real name Martijn Garritsen) touched on his plans for the new year. “I’m gonna do a little bit less shows this year, and release more — and also more pop stuff again,” he told the interviewer.

Garritsen — who will perform the biggest UK show of his career in August — went on to say that 2024 saw him deliver “aggressive, very festival progressive Martin Garrix songs,” and that he would like to pursue new creative horizons in 2025. “I’m just gonna experiment,” he said. “I’ve been in the studio with some really cool, incredible artists [and would like] to finish those songs so we can systematically release them.”

This wouldn’t be the first time Garritsen has dabbled in pop music. Over the years, he has collaborated with artists like Dua Lipa, Bebe Rexha, and Ed Sheeran. He is currently sitting on a joint effort with 2021 American Idol breakout star Benson Boone.

Garritsen isn’t the only superstar of the 2010-2015 EDM boom who has taken a step back from gigging in recent years. His fellow Dutchman Hardwell took a break from touring between 2018-2022, and nearly a year ago, Scottish hitmaker Calvin Harris said that he doesn’t see himself DJing beyond age 50.

With any luck, Martin Garrix fans will be blessed with announcements regarding the artist’s upcoming collaborations as 2025 continues to unfold.
