Knock2 has solidified his place as one of the scene’s most forward-thinking talents with the release of his jam-packed 17-track debut album, nolimit.

The new era of the scene is here, and at the forefront of the latest movement are artists dashing the notion of conventional genres to create dynamic styles that are all their own. San Diego’s Knock2 is one of the producers helping lead the charge into the no-holds-barred future. He’s consistently showcased how he can transform influences from various aspects of his life into sonic treats while winning over the hearts of everyone by wearing his heart on his sleeve.

Today, Knock2 has delivered his locked-and-loaded debut album, nolimit, which is sure to propel him to the next level of his career. Clocking in at 17 tracks, this release isn’t just a collection of tunes from the fast-rising star; it’s the culmination of his influences and forward-thinking approach that make for a perfect snapshot of the scene’s future.

Early singles off nolimit—”feel U luv Me,” “hold my hand” with Sophia Gripari, and “come aliv3” with RL Grime and Abi Flynn—gave Knock2’s fans a taste of what would be in store for the rest of the release. You’ll hear everything from trap and bass house to drum and bass and more as flourishes of nostalgic rave elements play with a punchy, modern twist.

The lead track, “rookie,” opens this journey into the mind of Knock2. SAYAK DAS joins him for the opener that paves the way like a proper intro for a festival set with energy levels that swell with powerful drops, trap elements, and vocal stabs included throughout. An absolute standout arrives when “crank the bass, play the musik” kicks into full gear with plenty of playful bounciness that leads into a build that cranks it up another notch. This track is Knock2 at his best, but there’s still so much more to come.

Knock2 powers forward over the next three tracks. “shake!the!city!” with Naliya and “fw me (dirty)” with Rhea Raj both keep the bass house-fueled vibes alive before he switches everything up on “dance or dead” with MILLI for a quick dive into the trap realm. Others in the middle of the album, like “select@,” “ready 2,” and “lights down low” with RemK and XAELO, all show off Knock2’s abilities to create a range of soundscapes that titillate the senses. He even turns the vibe down a notch on his second collaboration with Sophia Gripari, “my melody,” with its pop-leaning vocals and fluttering elements over chilled breaks.

Piano notes come into the forefront of the album’s title track, helping you realize that you’ve arrived at the end of this journey. That doesn’t mean that Knock2 didn’t have another powerful melodic drop to push you across the finish line. He places that smack dab in the middle of the tune before piano notes reenter the fray to say goodbye. That said, it’s clearly a “see you later” instead of “so long forever” because if there’s one thing that he’s made evident with nolimit, it’s that he’s here to stay.

Listen to nolimit on Spotify or your preferred platform, and make sure to catch Knock2 on tour when he heads to a city near you.
