Austrian artist Alpha Tracks showcases his deep, moody trance style in the tracks on his latest EP, Trife Life, which is out now via Charlotte de Witte’s RPM by KNTXT imprint.
Evocative sounds are the name of the game when it comes to the music that Alpha Tracks sets out to create. His lengthy career has been defined by early-rave-era influenced releases on influential labels that include Cheap Records and Morbid Records. At the same time, he’s pushed the boundaries of his abstract creativity by embarking on a subscription project in 2023 that saw him explore new sonic reaches. This year, he’s added a release on Charlotte de Witte’s RPM by KNTXT to his discography, deepening the impact of his typically-analog-created soundscapes.
The Trife Life EP is out now and perfect for anyone who wants to experience a world where deep, hypnotic trance with twinges of techno reigns supreme. Four lengthy tracks, all created in a secluded fishermen’s village in Greece, define this release from Alpha Tracks. And after one listen-through, you’ll find yourself completely entranced.
“New Forgiveness” leads the charge. Alpha Tracks builds this one layer by layer as it drives forward with a fast backing beat, ghoulish and angelic vocals that play in contrast with each other, and soft synths that creep in from a distance. The energy is kicked up a slight notch on “Secrets,” taking you on a ride straight into the spacey, synthy unknown. The song intensifies as the seconds tick away until you reach a bliss-like state of mind.
Alpha Tracks dives even deeper into the cosmos on “Collect The Sun.” Close your eyes, and you’ll immediately imagine yourself floating in the vastness of space, with vocal samples arriving sporadically like other ships passing by on your journey. Yet that’s not the end, as “Insomnia” brings the Trife Life EP to a close. An emotion-fueled melody plays in the opening minutes, with high-pitched vocals leading you to the booming bass of a rave heard in the distance.
