On his latest album, These Are The Days, BCee takes listeners on a vocal-fueled adventure, from melodic moments to nostalgic hip-hop sounds.

Drum and bass legend and Spearhead Records founder BCee is a household name within the genre and the UK scene. With a two-decade discography and unmatched expertise in creating the sound, he has undoubtedly left his mark on the genre over the years, with plenty of producers looking to him for inspiration. Today, he’s added to that legacy by releasing his eighth studio album, These Are The Days.

These Are The Days features 13 tunes and a talented lineup of collaborators who have joined BCee in the studio. Earlier this summer, he revealed the project was on its way with a stunning single, “Gamble,” featuring Jaevon and Abi Flynn, effectively setting the tone for the soundscapes found on the album. Each track’s recurring feeling is overwhelmingly uplifting, and the lyricists shine brightly to complete each happy tune.

I wanted to explore songwriting and drum & bass in a way I hadn’t done before. Something new compared to my previous albums is that every single one of the tracks is a full vocal song collaborating with different vocalists throughout. The title ‘These Are The Days’ reflects a duality: celebrating the good times while recognizing that these are the only days we get. Whether you’re enjoying life or facing tough times, it’s about seizing the moment and making the most of it.

Every vocalist on the album undoubtedly makes the album whole, and BCee creates the perfect backing beat to pair with each one.

The opening tune and title track, featuring vocalist Zara Kershaw, starts the album in a serene, sparkling style. This one does a fantastic job of encompassing the album’s overall aesthetic, making it the perfect piece to introduce These Are The Days. With one of the best tracks first, it’s only natural to keep listening to the next.

The vocal talent presses on throughout the project with household names like Liam Bailey, Catching Cairo, and SOLAH, whose euphoric voices never fail to complete any track they touch. Amidst the ethereal liquid sounds on These Are The Days are a few hip-hop-infused beats sprinkled in “Say It Ain’t So” with T.R.A.C. and “Stepping Stones” with Tempza. While warm and uplifting, they create a nice change of pace without steering off of BCee’s masterfully created story.

The final track, “Colours” with Abi Flynn, is another standout you can’t listen to just once. BCee’s smooth jazz-inspired touch chimes in between an uplifting, sun-drenched melody that rings of nostalgia for a DNB tune that could never go out of style.

BCee’s These Are The Days is out everywhere now, so be sure to head to Spotify or your preferred platform to stream this gem of a collection.
