Pretty Lights has released brand-new music for the first time since before their hiatus, but you need to use a password to access the tracks.

Since their triumphant return to the scene in 2023, Pretty Lights has been touring nonstop, and their fans, who waited so patiently during their hiatus, have been chasing them across the country. The band has been on the move, from major festival appearances like Electric Forest and Bonnaroo to their own Soundship Space System Tour, wowing attendees with their signature “swirls” at every stop. Yet it had been since 2017 that Pretty Lights officially released new music.

A mysterious phone number was posted to the Pretty Lights Instagram earlier this week. When dialed, the number led to a series of riddles that required solving to access their latest EP, Dual Fusion Unity. The final prompt in the riddle asked: “I can be open to all and spoken much, but when I reach the top, my voice is hushed, what am I?” Pretty Lights fans were quick to share the answer, “secret,” across social media when they finally cracked the code.

When the passcode is entered, a message reads: “Well done, fellow voyager. This is for you to enjoy, and to share with the community how you see fit. Help write this next chapter we are embarking on together.” The link then toggles an old-school Winamp player where you can listen to the five new tunes and even mix them in real time if you choose. Could “help us write this next chapter” and the option to mix the tunes allude to Pretty Lights souring inspiration from their fans?

Only time will tell and for now, the acclaimed electronic group has left listeners with five vibrant tracks on Dual Fusion Unity in their signature mellow downtempo-meets hip-hop-influenced halftime style. With some of the tunes over eight minutes in length, there’s plenty to dive into in the five new offerings. They all flow as one, and the vibe slowly ebbs and flows with each song and their respective vocal elements. This non-traditional release format has us stoked to see what’s to come next from Pretty Lights, as it’s clear after this past year that they have only just been getting (re)started

Head to the official website and use the passcode “secret” to open the Winamp player to listen to and mix the five new tunes.

Pretty Lights – Dual Fusion Unity – Tracklist:

  1. Road To The Stars
  2. Where Are You Going
  3. New Heights
