Thando Drops Off a Funky Fresh Summer Mix

New York City native Thando is hot off the release of his latest tune, “Want You,” and dropped off a mix that will have you moving and grooving to the beat.

The past few years have been quite a ride for Thando. This New York-based DJ and producer caught fire after the pandemic with releases on Liftoff Recordings, Selected., and Fool’s Gold, the latter of which became a true home for some of his most fantastic tunes. This year has seen Thando continue to thrive with more lush, feel-good tunes that are a perfect fit for any dancefloor.

Thando made his way to Perfect Havoc to kick the year off, teaming up with Ali Demirel and Preston Knight for “On the Decline.” “Close To You,” a collaboration with Mat.Joe on Fool’s Gold, helped start the summer off on the right foot, and that tune has since gained nods from some of the scene’s top tastemakers. Follow-up track “Let’s Go Together” helped Thando rise even further in the scene’s ranks in July, and he’s capping off the season with yet another stunner, “Want You.”

Out now on Fool’s Gold, “Want You” is an infectious house track that features a hearty helping of disco-infused elements for a past-meets-present ride that you can’t help but move your body to. “‘Want You’ feels like the beginning of a new chapter for me,” Thando shared about the tune. “For so long I’ve chased radio and streaming success, and this song is my first departure from that. It feels like the most authentic version of myself and I couldn’t be happier with how it has turned out.”

Today, Thando has added to the overall experience of “Want You” by spinning a mix that’s filled to the brim with quality grooves. The 30-minute ride is destined to make you get up and dance, with the NYC artist stating that it’s “an ode to disco house tracks of old and new” while professing his love for “funky basslines and jazzy chords.”
