Neumonic gets cheeky with his signature UKG sound on This One’s Nawty, which doubles as the first full signing for the UK label Morii Records.
Based out of Santa Cruz, California, Nick Neumann, known by the stage name of Neumonic, makes it his artistic mission to push UK Garage to the masses on this side of the pond. Known and adored as a versatile DJ, producer, and one of the founders of Garage Access, he has built up a reputation for setting dancefloors ablaze, including The Stacks at Lightning In A Bottle this year, which was a set not to miss.
From the stage to the studio, Neumonic challenges himself to bring something fresh and fun at every turn. Previous releases like the “Movin” VIP and “Deep Currents” have earned widespread support, and now he’s turned to ENiGMA Dubz‘s label, Morii Records, to be the designated home for his newest EP, This One’s Nawty.
Neumonic set out to bring listeners a lively and vibrant take on UK Garage with This One’s Nawty, and he accomplished just that. The EP starts with “Makes Me,” a low-key and unassuming track that simultaneously bangs with a trembling bass. Neumonic calls on the Sakawah Boys for the next track to bring a real UK feel to “Nawty.” On this tune, he shows listeners exactly why he’s like no other, pushing the UKG sound with the most authenticity possible.
The next track, “Wicked,” takes a minimal approach. Lightweight vocals and breaks are the primary focus of the soundscapes on this one. Then, the release wraps up with “Reborn,” taking listeners on one final trip through an elaborate combination of playful synths, breaks, and vocal clips as the final seconds tick away.
