Genix has pulled out of two events on which he partnered with SoCal-based promoter Intricacy due to “lack of communication and payments.”
Fans of Genix looking forward to catching him in Salt Lake City or Orange County will apparently have no such luck. The UK trance DJ and producer has shared that he must cancel his performances in each city on July 27 at Boomerangs and August 16 at CIRCLE, respectively.
Genix (real name Damion Houchen) broke the news via his Instagram Story on Wednesday, July 24. “Unfortunately two of my upcoming shows will not be going ahead,” he wrote. “I’ve been told due to lack of communication and payments from the promoter. I was looking forward to coming to play at these events but this is out of my control. Apologies and I hope to catch you somewhere soon.”
The main organizer of both events is Intricacy. The brand released a statement of its own regarding the Salt Lake City event, but it has not made any public mention of the Orange County event at the time of writing. It wrote that the “decision was not made lightly” but provided no additional reasoning, offering would-be attendees refunds unless they choose to use their tickets to gain entry to an August 30 show that has yet to be announced.
Houchen is not the only artist to pull out of shows recently, although most others did so under different circumstances. Over the weekend, flight delays due to the CrowdStrike outage forced acts like Audiojack, AYYBO, LP Giobbi, Moore Kismet, Regis, and Sydney Blu to cancel their gigs.
Intricacy has not responded to EDM Identity’s request for comment at the time of writing. Tomorrow, Friday, July 26, Genix is slated to perform on the next stop of his YOU.ME.NOW album tour at Audio SF in San Francisco.
