deadmau5 has returned to full form by heading back to mau5trap for the release of the four-track some ep, which includes “Quezacotl” and more.

While deadmau5 has shown off his collaborative side in recent years by teaming up on projects with Kaskade as Kx5 and Rezz as REZZMAU5, he’s still showing that he’s got plenty of gas in the tank as a solo artist. In fact, this year has mostly been defined by his moments of reflection as he celebrated 25 years with retro5pective shows in Los Angeles and New York. Now, deadmau5 has gifted his fans with new music from his personal production archive into the world with the release of his some ep.

The some ep is out now via mau5trap and features four lengthy tracks that he’s dusted off and polished for everyone’s listening pleasure. The lead single, “Quezacotl,” has been teased during his past performances and features gorgeous symphonic chords that harken back to his classic sound. The legendary artist dropped a dose of techno for the second single, “Wet,” which also marks his first track as TESTPILOT since 2014. Its dark atmosphere is full of twists and turns as the pulsating beat beckons you to the dancefloor.

The two new tracks on some ep are “Sever” and “Input Output.” The former of the two starts slowly with bright synths before the track swells into a bumping ride that menacingly chugs forward into the darkness of the night. The latter carries a similar ambiance with a flurry of synth stabs that arrive like a jump scare in a horror movie before taking center stage while layered with vocal chops that will leave you bopping your head right along with it as the near-ten-minute runtime ticks away.

The some ep isn’t the last thing that deadmau5 has planned for the rest of the year. Not only does he have another retro5pective show on the horizon at Red Rocks in the fall, but Day of the deadmau5 will return for another round in Chicago, Mexico City, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico in October.

Listen to the some ep on Spotify or your preferred platform, and stay tuned for more from deadmau5 by following his social media channels.
