Elohim Delivers Raw Emotions on ‘Power of Panic’

Elohim paints a picture with each track on Power of Panic to help shed light on the reality of struggles associated with mental health.

Exploring the enigmatic side of music and artistry, Elohim emerges as a distinctive figure whose creativity never stays in the box. From ethereal melodies that captivate the senses to a persona veiled in mystery, her journey through music is as intriguing as it is compelling. Her essence is an artist who defies convention and invites listeners into a world where vulnerability meets empowerment.

Last year, Elohim had to make the hardest decision of her career. She bravely and robustly decided to put her tour on pause to nurture her mental health. Self-care is essential, and putting yourself first in such instances is never wrong. Through her recovery, Elohim realized that the Power of Panic is no joke.

Panic brought Elohim down but also brought her change. While working through the steps necessary to heal, she faced the brutal truth in her message, which provided introspection. Thus, the album we have today was born. Although she can’t share this art with fans on tour, she hopes this offering of her experience can suffice for now.

I still can’t help but wonder what this would all be like in a parallel universe where I’ve conquered my struggles, where I’m on stage again performing for thousands. That’s the dream and I promise you I will never give up on that. The reality is so much more complicated, broken, and yet still beautiful. Power of Panic is yours: no stage, no lights, and that has to be enough for now.

Sometimes, life can build up like a “Ticking Time Bomb,” this track encapsulates the inner buildup in song form. “失敗への恐怖” is short and sweet, a glimpse of peace that we eventually find again later in the album. Passion is on her sleeve as “Afraid to Fail” unravels. Emotional lyrics drop into a hardcore spread of abrupt sounds, tossing you from left to right. Will you answer “The Call” if the phone rings? If you pick up, you’ll be greeted by electronic raindrops falling. The beat then becomes electrified, and a cheerful presence overcomes the mood.

Distorted vocals introduce “Tiny Human.” Pick up on the aggressive nudge of reality as the energy flips into more hard-hitting drums awaiting at each drop. Try to catch your “Breath” on this next track. Inhale, exhale, and release the flooding thoughts inside your mind. As the pace picks up and you continually reach for the next moment, your lungs feel air again. Chaotic meets inner monologue on “Crazy.” Find yourself dealing with the devil as you lose your mind to the electrifying drum-infused beat.

A static conversation comes into focus. “Uncomfortable (Interlude)” displays playful electronic squeaks while chopped and screwed vocals continue to try to puzzle themselves together. “Didn’t Sign Up For This” is a song many can relate to. When life gets hard, you can’t help but wonder what your purpose is and why you were chosen, and Elohim portrays it well in her lyrics. Life can be low, and “Can’t Remember Your Name” lays out the truth about the pits people can find themselves in when life becomes too stressful.

“Power Of Panic” speaks on the intense feelings akin to being stuck inside a cage within your own body, but each drop brings you closer to the light. Each moment pummels you forward to escape from the weight holding you back. High-pitch piano chords lay us gently into “Earth Angel.” You can’t help but let tears form in your eyes as this sorrowful yet hopeful ballad surrounds you like an embrace. All the noise inside your head is silent momentarily, and peace finally has a chance to share its presence again.
