The Jane Doe who filed the lawsuit alleges that Diplo distributed nude photos of her without her consent.
A lawsuit against Diplo over claims of revenge porn distribution was filed in a California court on Thursday. This is the third such accusation levied at the superstar DJ and producer by two different women, along with a sexual assault lawsuit filed and then later dropped in 2021.
According to Vanity Fair, in the latest lawsuit, a Jane Doe alleges that she entered into a romantic relationship with Diplo (real name Thomas Pentz) in 2016, when she was 21 years old. They began exchanging nude photos, she said, and their relationship continued until October 2023. A month later, she allegedly found out that Pentz was distributing the photos and videos she had sent him.
The Jane Doe claims that she had made Pentz aware that she did not want him to do so. She says she found out that he did when a woman she didn’t know at the time contacted her and tipped her off.
“Time and again, Wes has been targeted by a group of untrustworthy individuals and their unscrupulous lawyers, cobbling together falsehoods in search of a meritless payday,” said Pentz’ lawyer, Bryan J. Freedman. “This suit seems to be just more of the same, which is why we have no reason to believe that this will end any differently than all the others.”
The account is similar to the one filed by Shelly Auguste in August 2023 — the second time she has accused him of revenge porn distribution. Auguste and Pentz are each currently embroiled in separate lawsuits against each other, both filed in 2021. Hers accuses him of charges like sexual battery and defamation; his accuses her of stalking, trespassing, and distributing private materials.
According to Vanity Fair, Auguste’s second revenge porn claim against Pentz was “deemed unable to prosecute” per the Los Angeles city attorney’s office. The new lawsuit alleges that the New York Police Department has issued a warrant for Pentz’ arrest, however, and an NYPD spokesperson that “there is a criminal complain on file … which is currently being investigated by NYPD detectives.”
Pentz is also currently under investigation for allegedly promoting an illegal party on an environmentally protected beach in Ibiza.
