Jamie xx’s second solo album, In Waves, is due out in September, and fans can get the first taste of what’s to come with his new single, “Treat Each Other Right.”
British DJ and producer Jamie xx is an artist who continues to captivate electronic music lovers with each passing year. From his dynamic sets that have won over crowds at festivals like Coachella, CRSSD Festival, and Portola to releasing some of the most gorgeous beats in the scene, there’s been no stopping this talent from holding his place at the top. Now, Jamie xx is adding another entry into his legacy with the announcement of In Waves.
Fans who have yearned for a new album from Jamie xx are getting their wish as the follow-up to his debut album In Colour will finally arrive on September 20 after nine long years of waiting. In Waves, which will be released on his Young imprint, is set to feature 12 tracks with a number of collaborators including the likes of The Avalanches, Oona Doherty, Robyn, and more.
The first single from In Waves, “Baddy On The Floor,” dropped on April 15, the same weekend as his latest Coachella performance. For that tune, he teamed up with beloved artist Honey Dijon to create the powerful dancefloor-ready tune. Today, he’s paired another single with the album announcement, “Treat Each Other Right.” This new tune offers another glimpse at what’s to come from Jamie xx on the album as he blends elements of disco, house, and more to create an intoxicating soundscape.
It’s been a while… and a lot has happened in that time. Ups and downs, growing up, figuring stuff out and then forgetting it all many times over. Life-changing events and world-changing events. These waves that we have all experienced together and alone. I wanted to make something fun, joyful and introspective all at once. The best moments on a dance floor are usually that for me. I can’t wait to share it with you.
