Get your black tees ready! Movement Detroit is around the corner, and we’re here with all the info you need to know for the festival!
Every Memorial Day Weekend, fans of the underground dance music scene flock to Detroit for Movement Music Festival, marking the unofficial start to the summer festival season. With a craving for unorthodox styles of house music on the rise, Movement welcomes underground dance legends, stars, and newcomers to Hart Plaza to showcase their art and celebrate the fast-growing underground culture. Though this year’s lineup is full of established artists, Movement is best enjoyed by discovery, so don’t be afraid to venture out to all six stages over the three-day weekend!
Veterans of the scene will be pleased to see crowd favorites Fatboy Slim, Gorgon City, Solomun, and Richie Hawtin who will debut “DEX EFX X0X.” Hawtin’s new live performance expands on the concepts of his iconic series from 1995 to 2005, “Decks, EFX & 909,” integrating modern music production technologies into his setup.
Movement also hosts artists pushing the scene forward and ushering in the next generation of house music lovers across the globe. With Dom Dolla, Idris Elba, HoneyLuv, Sama’ Abdulhadi, Indira Paganotto and many other DJs making their debut at Movement this year, Hart Plaza is sure to see new faces scattered throughout the crowd.
There’s a lot to remember so we’ve put together a guide ahead of the event. Keep reading for set times, prohibited and permitted items, and more!

Reminder To Mind Your Belongings:
Unfortunately, during this festival season, many have reported pickpockets, bag slashings, and theft of wallets, smartphones, purses, and other valuables. While this small number of bad apples in the bunch doesn’t define an entire crowd, some opportunistic people come to these events to take advantage of unsuspecting partygoers, and it’s essential to be mindful of your valuables while at Movement.
