Zeds Dead & Flux Pavillion – Waves
Two dubstep legends came together for the first time last week with an incredible vocalist in tow. Zeds Dead and Flux Pavillion’s respective labels Deadbeats and Circus Records came together to release “Waves” and it’s the perfect blend of the producers’ most classic bass sounds.
The vocals, courtesy of DeathbyRomy, complete the track, pairing perfectly with the cascading bass-fueled drops from the talented dubstep producers. Some slowed-down, tasteful drums come into play halfway through the tune, adding a satisfying extra touch.
Jaenga – Ancestors
As no stranger to the imprint, Jaenga made his return to Ganja White Night‘s SubCarbon this week with a brand new five-track EP, Ancestors. The project’s title track is a fast dubstep favorite that not only captures the signature sound that the label is known for, but also the current trends in bass music for a fresh and easy-to-love tune.
Simula – Venator
Released this week via London’s Critical Music and immediately flying to the top of Beatport charts was Simula‘s “Venator.” As his first release of 2024, this tune is the first single from a forthcoming EP from the talented drum and bass producer. An eerie intro proceeds the heavy DNB to come for a beat undoubtedly ready for the dance floor.
Plastician – Luxurious
Wave and downtempo fans were treated to a release from a leader in the wave music scene this week. Plastician‘s latest tune, “Luxurious,” undoubtedly lives up to its name in its dreamy soundscape. Released via Terrorhythm Recordings, floating melodies amongst deep basslines make for another beautiful track from Plastician that is a fast favorite for chill vibes.
Jappa & Tuggawar – Bazooka
Last week, the drum and bass picks were overflowing with dozens of fabulous new tunes, and another of our favorites was from Jappa and Tuggawar via Invicta Audio. UK producers continue to be some of the biggest trailblazers of the genre, and this track encapsulates everything there is to love about their dancefloor DNB sound. Complete with foghorns and an infectious beat that starts almost immediately, this one is easily due for a rewind after the first listen.
