Seven Lions and Illenium Deliver Mainstage Anthem "Not Even Love" ft. ÁSDÍS

Illenium and Seven Lions enlisted ÁSDÍS for the effervescent “Not Even Love” just in time for festival season.

Illenium and Seven Lions are both hitmakers in their own right, responsible for some of the most memorable pieces of music to pierce through the air at EDM massives. It only makes sense, then, that their collaboration “Not Even Love” featuring Icelandic vocalist ÁSDÍS would finally see its official release via Casablanca Records right at the unofficial start of festival season.

The single opens up with dewy verses by ÁSDÍS (full name Ásdís María Viðarsdóttir) taking center stage, framed by little more than pillowy synth plucks. By the time percussion finds its way into the arrangement she’s already belting out the song’s namesake vocal, only letting up after the drop to give a luminous synth lead room to shine. A switch-up at the second drop trades in the four-on-the-floor beat introduced earlier for pleasantly syncopated breaks.

Seven Lions (real name Jeff Montalvo) started his artist project in 2010, winning a remix contest for Above & Beyond‘s single “You Got To Go” the following year. By the time he released his 2014 EP, Worlds Apart, his repertoire as a producer had landed him on international stages.

Illenium (real name Nicholas Miller), who began producing music in 2008, may have started to gain traction slightly later, but he has enjoyed a career trajectory almost unheard of by EDM acts ever since. In 2019, he performed at Madison Square Garden, and 2023 saw him break ticket sale records for a single-headliner dance music event when he performed at Empower Field in his hometown of Denver.

Miller and Montalvo first worked together on 2016’s “Rush Over Me” with Said The Sky and featuring HAILENE. They first debuted “Not Even Love” when Montalvo made a surprise appearance at Miller’s SoFi Stadium show in Los Angeles, creating a “viral moment” on social media, according to a press release.

The song will undoubtedly make another appearance at both Montalvo and Miller’s gigs this weekend. Tonight, March 22, the former performs at Ultra Music Festival in Miami and the latter at Zouk Nightclub in Las Vegas.
