Blanke returns to Monstercat to release his groundbreaking EP, Emergence, showcasing his incredible versatility and reflecting on his own personal growth.
Known for his genre-bending production and captivating performances, Blanke has risen through the ranks of the dance community with an astounding swiftness. Since his US debut, the Australian native has become a regular at some of the most notorious Stateside festivals, blowing people away with his high-energy sets and diverse soundscapes. No genre is off limits for the multifaceted producer. As he moves effortlessly from a whimsical tear-jerker to an apocalyptic banger, it becomes clear he was never meant to be caged.
Blanke’s versatility has proven to be his greatest asset, leading him down roads full of limitless possibilities, with all signs pointing to ÆON:MODE. Blanke’s drum and bass alias gave him a creative outlet to push the boundaries of musical expression and resist the limitations artists tend to create for themselves. Now, Blanke is taking that energy and putting it into his most eclectic project yet: the Emergence EP, out now on Monstercat.
Since November, Blanke has released three breathtaking singles, giving fans a glimpse into the six-part project. “Crashing Hard” featuring Casey Cook is the pure melodic radiance for which Blanke is known. It’s the kind of song that is best served in a longing embrace.
“Heaven” featuring Rival and KC is so gut-wrenchingly beautiful that you can hardly believe it carries you into such a filthy drop. Blanke’s Grant collab “Heavy Heart” featuring your friend polly tugs at the heartstrings in such a subtle yet profound way. I can’t remember the last time I listened to music like this, and it feels like finally coming back home again.
The last three tracks expand on different styles, bringing a new energy to the project that feels reminiscent of the dualities of life. “Alphane” is heavy, earth-shattering bass and metal. It almost feels like an open invitation to release your inhibitions and headbang all the pent-up angst we all tend to carry.
“Data” brings that roaring bass house energy into the space until a dubstep drop hits that is so satisfying I had to get up and move with it. “Turmoil” featuring Au5 felt so otherworldly. It was beautiful; it was scary; it was both the yin and the yang. Just like life.
