BLKLBL showcases his style of house music that “cuts like diamonds” with an hour-long mix filled to the brim with bass-fueled tunes.
Los Angeles-based artist BLKLBL might be one of the newest masked dons to begin his takeover of the scene, but while the new project’s ambiance might be mysterious there’s years of prior experience backing him up. Last year saw him drop off a flurry of singles, including “LUV IZ BLK” with Taylr Renee, “STOP ME” with CANDL, and a solo track, “PROMISES,” while also taking the stage at venues like Exchange LA.
Now, BLKLBL is gearing up for a massive run in 2024 that will propel him to even greater heights in the scene. “My music is me, I craft every set to the point where I run it 100 times before a show, and do it purely off of memory since I am wearing a mask and using no headphones,” he said about how he approaches his sets. “I call it “point to point” DJing, where I remember every cue, every build, and every drop, so even if I fuck up live, I know how to get out and recover. Because of this, it takes a lot of time to put a set together.”
There’s plenty that BLKLBL has in store for house music lovers looking to hit the dancefloor this year, with four EPs set to be released in the coming months. To help kick everyone into gear, he dropped off a mix bursting at the seams with quality tunes. Found inside its runtime is a flurry of his own releases and edits, along with some curated tunes from the likes of Zeds Dead, Crankdat, FrostTop, CHYL, Space Laces, and plenty more.
