Made In Dreams Gives Us a Taste of Munich

German DJ and producer Made In Dreams shares insight on his life in Munich and how living there has impacted his career.

Germany has been a massive hub for electronic music for decades, with legendary artists calling different cities throughout the country home. Beyond those dance music icons, a thriving community has only continued to grow each year, and artists like Made In Dreams are part of the next generation looking to shake up the scene.

Made In Dreams, formerly known as KNDDL, hails from Munich, a Bavarian city that has birthed the likes of Monika Kruse, Tomcraft, and more over the years. While his new project might still be in its formative era, he’s already begun to catch the ear of tastemakers like AFROJACK and WALL Recordings, who signed his recent collaboration with Kristianex and Camitz, “All Day, All Night,” to WALL Academy. This house-fueled tune features deep, hypnotic grooves that will get your body grooving along with it. And to help introduce his sound to the world, we caught up with him to chat about his experience in Munich and more.

Munich is the perfect city when it comes to blending traditions and modernity. The settlement of many future-oriented companies, as well as the beautiful nature, make it easy to get inspired and to make some fresh music that does not stand still in time. All in all, the city provides basically everything you could want while growing up.

Made In Dreams

The local scene in Munich is special, with Made In Dreams describing the venues there as often being cozy and intimate, with their DJs and producers prioritizing authenticity. “While big cities often have the issue of anonymity and narrow-mindedness, the people of Munich‘s dance scene, whether it‘s artists or club owners, are always open to collaborate and that can make it quickly feel like home,” he said. “Even though Munich combines many cultures, the Bavarian culture and its spirit stay undefeated.”

There’s plenty to explore in Munich as well. Made In Dreams recommends Neuraum for a night out on the town, as that’s where DJs including James Hype, Julian Jordan, Paul van Dyk, Don Diablo, and Oliver Heldens have played. Additionally, Munich’s Superbloom festival takes place in the heart of the city, with a dynamic range of artists who have taken the stage.

As for the current state of the dance music scene in Germany, Made In Dreams made it clear that it’s “dynamic and influential.” While Berlin is the global hub for electronic music, he shared that cities like Munich, Hamburg, and Cologne can also contribute their unique flavors. Some of the up-and-coming artists in this space who Made In Dreams urges others to follow include Avaion, BUNT., Marten Horger, tists, and PaulWetz.

The scene thrives on innovation, collaboration, and a deep love for music. However, commercialization and gentrification pose challenges, for example, much of the short-lived content created for TikTok and Instagram. Nowadays, it is crucial to adapt to upcoming trends as quickly as possible if you want to make a living with your music. Yet, I hope we can preserve the underground spirit that birthed the movement.

Made In Dreams

With the notion of adaptation and his desire to keep that underground movement alive, Made In Dreams dropped off a mix that includes a plethora of house and techno tunes that will keep you vibing the entire time. Found inside are some tracks like Dombresky and SHELLS’ “In My Room” and Odd Mob’s remix of IMANU’s “A Taste Of Hope,” along with some of his own IDs and aforementioned single “All Day, All Night.”

The mix conveys the same feeling I plan to express with my future releases. Often dark and groovy, the dreamy soundscapes combined with house beats create a unique feeling and I 100% support every artist that I used music from. I consider the vibe as well as the tempo, which is often faster than 130 BPM, future-proof.
