“Rumble” won the Best Dance/Electronic Recording at the Grammys, with Fred again.. winning another for Actual Life 3 (January 1 – September 9 2022).

The 66th Grammy Awards have commenced at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and “music’s biggest night” has already begun to be a massive one for dance music. This year’s edition saw a strong suit of nominees in the dance/electronic music space, but it was a familiar face, along with two fresh ones that have taken home the first two awards: Skrillex, Fred again.., and Flowdan.

In a stacked group of nominees that included tracks like Disclosure’s “Higher Than Ever Before,” Romy and Fred again..’s “Strong,” James Blake’s “Loading,” and Aphex Twin’s “Blackbox Life Recorder 21F,” it was Skrillex, Fred again.., and Flowdan’s “Rumble” that took home the top prize. This win marked the ninth Grammy Award for Skrillex and the first for Fred again.. and Flowdan.

Skrillex accepted the award on stage alone and gave some advice to those looking to pursue a career in music production. “For anyone out there that wants to make music, the best advice I’ve ever gotten is that success is something you attract, not something that you try to chase or catch,” he said before going on to show his love for Fred again.. and Flowdan.

Flowdan is one of the biggest inspirations in underground music in my life, and to have a Grammy with those guys, my best friends making music that we just love, not trying to make a hit, not trying to do anything but push music forward, this is for those guys, and thank you everybody.

Skrillex

That wasn’t the only win for Fred again.. either, as the beloved UK artist took home a second for Best Dance/Electronic Album for Actual Life 3 (January 1 – September 9 2022). He beat out other stunning albums, such as The Chemical Brothers’ For That Beautiful Feeling, Kx5’s self-titled album, Skrillex’s Quest For Fire, and James Blake’s Playing Robots Into Heaven.

As for other dance/electronic artists that were nominated this year, Kylie Minogue took home Best Pop Dance Recording for “Padam Padam,” beating out Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s “Miracle.” Additionally, Dom Dolla and Lane 8 were both nominated for Best Remixed Recording but were beaten out by indie rock band Wet Leg, who remixed Depeche Mode’s “Wagging Tongue. Calvin

Fred again.. is up for one more Grammy Award tonight as he was nominated for Best New Artist. Stay tuned for the winner of that Grammy to be revealed.
