Yoko is starting the year off on the right foot by stunning listeners with her brand-new ten-track release, Wake The Dreamer.

If Yoko has proven one thing to her growing fanbase, it’s that she has a knack for transporting listeners into whatever world she’s created on each of her projects. Last winter, the Denver-based musician released her first album, Beneath The High Sea. Yoko’s undeniable talents shined not only in this meticulously crafted body of work but also on stage. She went on to have her biggest year of touring yet in 2023, with performances at festivals like The Untz, Sonic Bloom, Sound Haven, and more.

Following a busy year of shows and smaller releases in between, Yoko is already moving full speed ahead into 2024 with her next project, Wake The Dreamer. This one has arrived just a few weeks after the anniversary of her first LP, proving that she’s been hard at work in the studio amidst touring.

Wake The Dreamer pulls the listener into the depths of a sci-fi-inspired world as Yoko tells its story through heavy-hitting halftime beats in various tempos. She wastes no time jumping right into high-energy sounds on the opening track, “Liquid Neural Network,” which ultimately sets the tone for the release. Fans have come to expect a variety of styles from the rising star, from downtempo to experimental bass, but Yoko is here to let the world know that she’s got a special touch when it comes to halftime music.

The otherworldly theme is kept throughout Wake The Dreamer in every distortion and detail, even down to edgy track names like “Cybernetic” and “Morphogenesis.” Tunes like “Paradigm No.87” and “Arata” bring smooth and steady head-nodding beats that only become more satisfying throughout, while the energy from bangers like “Recursion” and “Quantum Locking” will undoubtedly force you out of your seat to dance.

To conclude the tale, Yoko drops in “Morphogenesis” and “The Way” to make a unique conclusion to the experimental goodness of Wake The Dreamer. Deeper emotions emerge and mesh with whimsical sound design, almost reminiscent of an Alice in Wonderland aesthetic in the final track.

Yoko’s Wake The Dreamer is out everywhere now, so be sure to head to Spotify or your preferred platform to take a listen for yourself.
