German Brigante takes his talents to Sol Selectas and drops off the gorgeous Será El Flamenco EP that’s filled with Balearic-infused soundscapes.
Spanish DJ and producer German Brigante has a storied legacy in the scene and a sound that’s easily recognizable in the house music realm, drawing on influences from the ’80s and ’90s. Releases on Get Physical, Dirtybird, Diynamic, Manitox, Bar 25, and Warung have helped set the tone for what he brings to the scene, but his tunes on Sabo’s imprint Sol Selectas have really stood tall among them all.
Last year, German Brigante dropped the Dharma and Basari EPs on Sol Selectas, the latter of which saw Yamil added into the mix. Now, before the end of 2023, he’s returned to the imprint with another fresh offering of tracks in tow on Será El Flamenco. The four tunes found inside showcase the world influences that German Brigante brings to his soundscapes, and it’s an organic house stunner.
Old-school acid house grooves dominate the early seconds of the lead track, “Acido Azul,” before synths and Spanish vocals creep in and wrap around the mind. Add in a touch of flamenco guitar, and you’ve got a tune that will warm every ounce of your soul. Similar vibes carry into the next track as Kurry and Augustín Carrillo join in on the fun for the sun-soaked “Açai.”
Spanish vocals return on “Será el Flamenco” as the samba-style percussion sweeps in and pairs perfectly with the melodies from German Brigante’s mind. The closing track, “Inquietud,” brings the two collaborators back into the mix for a closing track that will mesmerize the mind with its acid bassline and guitar chords, carrying you deep into the night.
