John Summit joked, “…And I’m gonna need the world’s entire supply of adderall once I get back home to finish them.”
Two weeks appear to have passed since tech house superstar John Summit left for London to get into “album mode.” In that time, he says that he’s worked on over 30 tracks, with at least one featuring former “Where You Are” collaborator Hayla.
On X (formerly Twitter), a fan asked how many projects he’d finished since he’d touched down in the UK. “30+ and i’m gonna need the world’s entire supply of adderall once i get back home to finish producing all of them,” quipped John Summit (real name John Schuster).
It’s unclear how complete the 30 tracks are as the fan asked how many were “officially done” but Schuster indicated that he had yet to wrap them up. What is known is that Hayla will feature on at least one of them. The two teamed up on “Where You Are,” which came out in March, and Hayla recently tagged Summit in a story with the text “I get this feeling… another hit is in the works.”
Born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, Schuster has covered quite a lot of ground since his breakthrough 2020 single, “Deep End,” on house music titan Defected Records. He’s just as well known for his music as his raucous social media presence, which most fans find endearing (but has blown up in his face on at least one occasion).
Controversy has not prevented Schuster’s star from continuing to rise, however. Last week, he announced a residency at the brand-new LIV Las Vegas (an offshoot of LIV Nightclub at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach). Then, today, he was the only DJ to merit a mention on the 2023 edition of Forbes‘ annual “30 Under 30” list.
John Summit has yet to share a title, release date, or much other information regarding his upcoming album. It’s safe to assume he’ll shout those details from the rooftops as soon as they’re even remotely final.
