Kȯlmē Records label boss and defender of all things tech house, LUCATI, drops a two-track EP featuring raw grooves for the dancefloor.
Protecting his sacred fans from genre slander, the defender of all things Tech House, LUCATI, has returned, armed with the finest skills on keyboard and mouse. In 2023, he has bestowed listeners with a collaborative EP, Bring It Back, alongside Franklyn Watts, released on labels CUFF and Flashmob Records, and will be ringing in the new year with grooves at Forever Midnight Las Vegas.
But before the ball drops and we welcome 2024, the Kȯlmē Records label boss is giving fans one more reason to be thankful in 2023 by returning to the imprint with his latest release. Consequences is a quick two-track EP from LUCATI that supplies primetime dancefloor utilities and guides flexible energies in uptempo tech house.
The title track presents excellent experimentation in developing hypnotic loops over time. Finding themselves lost in the ebb and flow, listeners become entranced by bass manipulating the stereo field and plucky synths bouncing between their ears. LUCATI excels in developing this track, stripping root elements while using minimal pads, synths, and glitches to develop tension.
Following suit is the second, “Yuma,” which was crafted to teleport you straight to Coachella. Adding percussion, rave stabs, and more, this track rolls. Developing longer buildups, listeners are surprised by an epic vocal breakdown. The unnamed singer asks the question, “Where did you go?” Synths and effects raise tension, creating visceral feelings of longing. As sounds are stretched and pushed to their climax, the payoff comes, and the track finds itself rolling once again.
