BADVOID Channels New Energy on ‘MUTINY’ EP

BADVOID brings his breathtaking, four-track MUTINY EP to Sounds Of Mayhem with a twist at the end from Dr. Ushūu.

Paving his own way from the start, Christopher Adams isn’t afraid to take the road less traveled. Formerly known as Notorious CHRIS, he now goes by the moniker of BADVOID, bringing his love of drum and bass to listeners worldwide. His love for the genre began at a young age, handed down by his brother, along with a longstanding love for metal. However, his journey to becoming a full-time DJ and music producer doesn’t stop there.

At 16, BADVOID dove into music full-time, leaving high school behind to pursue music and tour across Australia. He went on to catch the ears of some major players with his releases, including KAYZO, Marshmello, and Zeds Dead. Since then, he’s continued his journey, achieving some notable label releases. 2021 saw him make his break with the Enter The Void EP on Buygore, and the following year, he released with Bassrush and Welcome Records, where he would return this year, as well as join Dim Mak Records. Now, he rounds out 2023 with another fresh release, bringing his MUTINY EP to Sounds Of Mayhem.

I created this EP to signify change and signal the next evolution of the BADVOID sound. The meaning behind Mutiny is ‘refuse to obey the orders of a person in authority.’ This EP relates more in a self-mutiny way as I am the one in charge of my creative output. To rebel against the rules I created upon myself when it comes to writing music, as there are no rules in creativity and music.

BADVOID combines the ominous with the heavy on the MUTINY EP.

The MUTINY EP kicks off with “Caution,” a track that is definitely not for the faint of heart with its screaming, metal-like vocals, electric guitar, and relentless drum and bass kicks. After an intense first song, listeners might want to catch their breath before moving on to the next one. Next, BADVOID joins forces with the San Diego-based duo Persona Non Grata for “Keep It Hardcore.” The trio of artists holds nothing back on this one, living up to the name and keeping it hardcore all the way through.

The EP then continues with BADVOID’s “Unrest,” a track that did not come to coddle listeners with its bass that comes kicking for a walloping punch. Last but not least, he includes a nice surprise, wrapping the EP up with Dr. Ushūu’s remix of “Keep It Hardcore.” Dr. Ushūu takes the original track to another level but twists it into a dubstep gem. While different from the rest of the EP, it’s a nice change of pace, like a little treat for the bassheads.

BADVOID’s MUTINY EP greatly displays his talents, bringing his unique sound and pristine music production out to play. We look forward to seeing what he does next but in the meantime, follow him on socials to stay in the know for his next releases!
