OTHERWRLD Releases Stunning Annual Compilation, 'OUTBREAK 003'

With just a year under its belt as a record label, OTHERWRLD prides itself on bringing a consistent roster of breakthrough musicians in the electronic music scene to the forefront. From their first two compilations, SURGE 001 and HORIZON 002, the label has proved that the next wave of musical discovery is at our fingertips.

Collectives like these are important in our scene, specifically for tapping into the underground and giving independent artists the resources to show off their skills. The Los Angeles/New York City hybrid label has brought more selection than ever with its third compilation, OUTBREAK (also listed as OUTBREAK 003), to celebrate its one-year anniversary. The whopping 16-track listening experience ranges from dubstep to breaks for audiophiles to dive in and discover their new favorite artist.

OUTBREAK is a compilation for listeners who crave tracks that blow their minds with out-of-the-box production and forward-thinking sound design. Otherworldly from the outset, ryscu‘s “BRACE” captures souls with hypnotic vocals and impeccable production value, leading into the rich sonic environment of AYDO8‘s “Escape.” Those looking for groove-heavy, club-ready tunes can get down to “BAD INTENTIONS” by Sportmode, “Bring It Back To Me” by Alexis B, and MAAD WEST‘s “Prize Pics.” This is only a third of the album. A stack of heavy hitters still awaits for listeners to explore.

On OUTBREAK, there’s an impressive selection of grimy bass tunes with off-the-wall sound design, such as tracks like Majoras Drep‘s “Go Back,” “Do My Thing” by Salay, EVE‘s “K E R N E L P A N I C,” and the highly anticipated track from Lynzz, “FLOW.” Not only that, but the curators stayed busy by providing proper drum and bass like the sounds of feelzzsleepy on “CURSED RUNE” as well as TRSTN & Frison‘s next-level tune, “Sprinkler.” To keep the energy at max level tracks like WAVEFRM‘s “PUMP IT” and Max Parkinson’s “Xiphoid Process” are standouts.

Bringing the compilation to a close, “Falling” by Mayven stuns listeners with a magnetic hook and colossal synths, while rvnti‘s “nostalgia” plays with stylistic breaks and gorgeous tonal elements. KAT‘s “hype” enters a rhythmic flow and plays a melodic mind game on the listeners, finalizing the compilation with piano layering and vocal sampling.

Each artist’s talent and creative range are evident across the whole OUTBREAK collection. Despite them being a fairly newer label on the scene, we are stoked to see what more new and rising artists OTHERWRLD will bring to us in their next effort.
