LENny (IT) shares a house-fueled mix and digs into his Italian roots, the current state of the scene in his home country, and more.
Italy has been home to a plethora of movers and shakers in the electronic music scene over the years, and one of the latest to start making some moves of his own is Lorenzo LENny (IT). Hailing from Romagna, his releases have graced imprints like Natura Viva, G-Mafia Records, and more since first breaking onto the scene. He also launched Wave Music Boat in 2011, a traveling party on the Adriatic Sea that’s provided countless memories for attendees and has taken the stage at venues ranging from Sankeys in Ibiza to Clevelander in Miami.
More recently, LENny (IT) took his production talents to an offshoot of Sony Italy, Reload Records, for his latest deep house track, “Running.” Featuring a blend of stunning synths and emotion-fueled vocals to create an intoxicating soundscape that wraps around your mind, it’s the perfect track to help usher in the final months of summer.
Looking to gain some added insight into his roots and the state of the scene, we caught up with LENny (IT) to dig in. “To be honest, I’ve never felt strongly ‘Italian,’ but one thing that I’ve taken away from where I grew up is a strong desire to survive and thrive,” he said. “I was born in a city which has the highest number of clubs of any Italian city, so you almost HAVE to be part of the music scene. For me, it was daily!”
As for what’s currently happening in Italy, LENny (IT) remarked that he doesn’t think it’s in great shape. “I think clubs have moved away from good electronic music for the most part, but I have hope that it will change in the future,” he said, and we hope that it changes for the better as well. If you have a trip planned to his home country, LENny (IT) mentioned that Milan has “the best scene” at the moment, saying, “I think that has a good blend of everything you would be wanting.”
LENny (IT) also spun up a mix to give everyone a taste of his take on house music and what to expect when you catch him at a festival or nightclub in the future. “These are some of the tracks I have enjoyed listening to and playing over the last couple of months,” he said. “I’m the type of DJ who always wants new music, so this is a snapshot of now.”
