Maximono Brings Project to a Close with 12-Track Album

in New Releases

The Outtakes features 12 tracks from Maximono that had previously never seen a proper release as the project comes to an end.

Turn back the clock a decade ago, and you’ll find Sebastian Wolters and Nick Hill in the formative years of their house music project, Maximono. Quickly gaining ground in the scene, the two began to release on labels such as Dirtybird, Sweat It Out, Confession, and This Ain’t Bristol while dominating the stage at nightclubs and festivals along the way. Nick departed the duo in 2018, but Sebi continued to churn and burn with some fantastic releases and appearances while still holding down his job running a software company.

The past few years have seen Maximono continue to bring the heat, but Sebi never felt pressing on was “100% right” because the project was his baby with Nick. This led to the official announcement that the project would come to a close earlier this month, with both Sebi and Nick sharing a heartfelt message for their longtime fans on social media. While the two will still be releasing music under other projects, there was no better way to give Maximono a solid end to its journey than by dropping the remaining unreleased tracks, and thus, The Outtakes was born.

Out now on This Ain’t Bristol, The Outtakes features 12 tracks that offer an intimate look into the Maximono project and the influences that were drawn on from tech house to breaks. Tracks like “Dead Or Alive” and “Where You At” bring plenty of bass house energy, while others like “So Real,” “Pushin’,” and “Get To Town” are more aligned with the tech house soundscapes Maximono became most known for.

One of the true gems is “Someday,” a house track that will leave you bouncing along with its beat as its lyrics and piano notes lift the soul. Another track that also deserves a mention is “Weak,” which brings listeners on an atmospheric ride they can shuffle along to into the realm of breakbeats that’s an absolute vibe, especially when the vocals kick in.
