Kasbo delivers a new solo single for the first time in three years with the poignant and visceral “The Way You Had Me.”
When you listen to the music of Kasbo, you’ll likely find that tapping into your innermost feelings to the tune of a great dancefloor beat has never come so naturally. Throughout his artistic journey, the producer has explored different angles of his sound, landed on numerous notable labels, toured with many artists, and played in countries worldwide. But if there’s one aspect of his journey that has remained consistent and unchanging throughout it all, it’s that everything he does is infused with swarms of tenderness and sincerity.
Every avid Kasbo listener remembers the sensations that swept over them the first time they heard his earlier releases. The enticing yet wistful single “World Away” evoked pangs of nostalgia that persist when you hit play on the song today, and the youthful sentiments of affection on “Found You” with Chelsea Cutler still have the power to make anyone pine after love. His full-length albums, Places We Don’t Know and The Making of a Paracosm, possess a spectrum of emotions that sensitive hearts can always revisit for comfort, safety, and solace or look to for guidance in navigating difficult emotional terrain. Whatever state of mind you’re moving through, Kasbo can provide the soundtrack for it.
Today, Kasbo has returned with his first single in three years, “The Way You Had Me.” Out now on Foreign Family Collective, the track features chilled-out production and delicate vocals, along with a simple guitar riff that stays at the forefront of the song for extra richness. The lyrics are solemn and sobering as the vocalist laments the loss of her lover, reminiscing on her past love and pondering if her ex-partner still thinks of her after moving on to a new relationship. The listener sees how latent jealousy, longing, and deep-seated hurt come together as lines like “Does your mind go drifting in the night when she’s laying where I used to lie?” ring through.
To add to the excitement of his latest release, Kasbo is also slated to hit the road this fall. The Swedish producer will provide direct support on select dates of Jai Wolf‘s Blue Babu Tour, perform at Electric Zoo on September 1, and play headlining shows in Detroit, Austin, Dallas, and Tempe across September and October.
