CloZee concludes the three-part music video series from her upcoming Microworlds album with acceptance, love, and light.
Known around the world for fresh and well-refined take on bass music, French producer CloZee is on the cusp of an album release and an immense accompanying tour. Snatched performances at festivals like Ultra Miami and Sonic Bloom have included sneak peeks of Microworlds tracks stateside, with more to possibly come via a slew of European stops at the likes of Lollapalooza Paris and Electric Castle Festival this month.
Dedicated to “highlighting the underground” via her work with Odyzey, launched in 2020, CloZee has been consistently selective about her own releases on the label. The Microworlds project has been at the forefront of fans’ minds, with single releases “Microworlds” and “Courage” offering bursting-at-the-seams musical journeys and elegantly produced videos. Confiding that “Skylight” ended a long period of writer’s block on social media, one listen proves that CloZee has come out of that dark doom period with a plethora of positivity, creativity, and music to share with the world.
Directed by Jade Ananda and starring dancer Jalen Rashad, the music video for “Skylight,” titled “The Embrace,” opens with an idyllic setting that furthers CloZee’s artistic vision to create a space fueled by inner peace. Flooded with light and beautifully composed, the track’s sweeping melodies and soft vocal fades lead gently to the first drop and an age change within the video’s characters. Jalen’s display within the visuals successfully completes the difficult task of conveying the ambiguity of potentially negative emotions while maintaining a glow of hope.
Celebratory vocal punches and a consistent percussive movement in the song’s second half act as gritty encouragement toward a glorious conclusion. The final build within “Skylight” is one of splendor, featuring several moving voices before consolidating to a streamlined finish that radiates warmth. With the discerning inclusion of multiple depths and facets that true character development entails, the track offers introspection, growth, and differing viewpoints that resonate with anyone who has worked to overcome a period of uncertainty.
