Beloved artist Aluna just dropped the details surrounding her sophomore album, MYCELiUM, which is due out this summer on Mad Decent.

While past years have seen Aluna win over hearts with her powerful releases that pang deep in the heart yet find a way to make your feet move, it’s safe to say that 2023 might be her biggest yet. This year has seen the award-winning British artist throw down some pure heat that’s including “Beggin’” with Chris Lake, “Inhale Exhale” with Skrillex and Kito, and “Killing Me” with TSHA. Aluna also took the stage at Coachella and is gearing up for appearances at Electric Forest, Bleached, and more tour stops this summer – but there’s some exciting news for fans before the summer months truly take hold.

Today, Aluna announced that her sophomore solo album, MYCELiUM, will arrive via Mad Decent on July 7. The aforementioned collaborations with Chris Lake and TSHA will find a home on this album, along with other previously released singles such as “Kiss It Better” with MK and “Mine O’ Mine” with Jayda G, while she’ll also unload a flurry of new tracks. Not only did Aluna reveal the artwork and tracklist for the upcoming release, but she also shared what drove her to give this album its title and the message behind it.

The Mycelium is the cell network seeped into the fabric of nature. I’m not talking about the bloom or the fruits. You need to lay the groundwork to see the fruit one day. I got burnt out from trying to work with powerful people who have lots of money and no actual genuine care for what I’m trying to do. I realized there was no foundation where I was standing, and we have to build our own foundation. It’s not going to be all bells and whistles; it’s going to be substance. So, I broke some barriers and started mentoring creative fans. I built a community of Black Ravers on Geneva and by joining groups on Instagram and social media. Now, the album is my community I’ve created.

But Aluna wasn’t done there, as she had another gift for her devoted fanbase – “Oh The Glamour.” This new track brings MNEK, Pabllo Vittar, and Eden Prince into the mix to help craft the deep, groovy soundscape. The back-and-forth vocals between Aluna and Eden Prince play with each other perfectly as the two dive into the mentality of being glamorous, as according to Aluna, “Being glamorous is an aspiration that drags you out of bed. Aiming for normal and average is a way to send yourself into the shackles of society. Glamour can often be a method to break free, celebrate, and thrive.”

Listen to “Oh ” on Spotify or your preferred platform, pre-save MYCELiUM ahead of its release on July 7, and grab tickets to catch Aluna on tour this summer.
