Paul Oakenfold’s former assistant alleges that the renowned artist exposed himself and masturbated in front of her multiple times.
Update – 11:45am PT: Just moments ago, Paul Oakenfold released an official statement on social media surrounding the sexual harassment allegations. In the statement, he says, “I categorically deny any and all claims of improper conduct. Respect, integrity, and consent are values I hold dear, and I have always treated everyone with utmost professionalism.” He also goes on to state that he will “fully cooperate” with any investigations and “will exhaust all legal remedies available, including the option to countersue, to project [his] reputation and seek justice.”
Previously: A lawsuit centered on sexual harassment and workplace violations has been filed against Paul Oakenfold, Paul Stepanek, and 25 John Does by an individual known only as Jane Roe, a 24-year-old woman who previously worked for the artist as his assistant. Stepanek is the CEO of New Frequency Mgmt and Paul Stepanek Management, who act as Paul’s management.
First reported by Deadline, the lawsuit from Jane Roe, which was filed this past Friday, alleges that Paul Oakenfold exposed himself to her and masturbated in front of her multiple times while she was employed. She claims that the harassment began on four separate dates, including her first day on the job, and none of which happened with her consent. Detailed accounts of these allegations can be found in the filing with the LA Superior Court.
After reporting the harassment to the management company, Jane Roe alleges that she was prevented from returning to work, and CEO Paul Stepanek asked her to sign an NDA that would not block sexual harassment reporting. Blackstone Law APC, the firm representing Jane Roe, states in the filing that she signed the NDA “under duress.” Yet once Jane Doe returned to work and was assigned to a different client, her hours were allegedly reduced, and she was laid off in March 2023 due to “a lack of work,” according to the court documents.
As of publishing, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Stepanek, or representatives from New Frequency Mgmt and Paul Stepanek Management have commented on the allegations. Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
