Phoenix-based artist Tones is getting prepped for his set at EDC Las Vegas and dropped off a mix showing off his genre-bending style.
While major hubs for electronic music around the US might have a stranglehold on much of the scene, smaller communities in cities like Phoenix have proven year after year that there’s something special happening in their borders as well. Shows taking place in the sun-soaked city have become hotly-desired for many to attend, and the community there has birthed a number of artists in the scene who are causing a stir. One of those artists is Tones, a dynamic DJ and producer who is quickly ascending with his energetic beats and unique style in tow.
Not only has Tones taken the stage at nightclubs and festivals since first breaking onto the scene, but he also hosts a monthly radio show, Monotones Radio, on Insomniac Radio and has continued to deliver an impressive track along the way. This year has seen the Phoenix-based artist drop a flurry of house heaters like “Till The Break Of Dawn,”Up All Night,” and “MANIAC,” the latter of which landed just a few weeks ago. Beyond the music, Tones is also an entrepreneur and a member of the Mental Health Advisory Board of Directors at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, further helping his community move in a positive direction.
Just because Tones has been off to the races in 2023 doesn’t mean he’s slowing down anytime soon. Not only does he have his debut set at EDC Las Vegas on the horizon, but the same day he graces the decks of the Boombox Art Car (May 19), his next single, the aptly dubbed “Feel The Heat” will be released for the masses to consume. To give everyone a taste of what’s to come, he swung by and dropped off a mix and some thoughts on his local scene as well.
In the mix, Tones puts his genre-bending style on full display with a helping of tracks from the likes of Bleu Clair, ACRAZE, Noizu & Westend, Tujamo, and more. He’s also included his tracks “Maniac,” “Till The Break of Dawn,” and “Bad Bitch Party,” while kicking the mix off with his flip of Mau P’s massive hit track “Drugs From Amsterdam.” Give this one a spin, and get ready to groove!
Listen to this exclusive guest mix from Tones on SoundCloud, pre-save “Feel The Heat” ahead of its release on May 19, and catch him at EDC Las Vegas when he plays the Boombox Art Car on Friday!
