Suray Sertin Spins a Mix to Showcase the Sounds of Montreal

Montreal-based DJ and producer Suray Sertin swung by with a fresh mix in tow that puts his originals and curated tunes on display.

Suray Sertin took his first steps in the realm of DJing and music production while in high school years ago, and he’s only continued to hone his skills in the studio ever since. The time that this Montreal-based artist spent practicing, exploring his influences, and more culminated a few short years ago after catching the ear of Zeds Dead. Not only did he grace their main label, Deadbeats, in 2021 with a massive remix of their collaboration with MKLA, “Alive,” but in 2022, he also became one of the first to land a release on their sister imprint, Altered States, with “U Left Me.”

Since then, Suray Sertin has only further impressed with each passing release. From “Midnight Delivery” and “People” to his latest single on Altered States, “Overfreezing,” it’s become impossible not to fall in love with his unique soundscapes that are dripping with his influences from genres including house, r&b, and chillwave.

To celebrate the release of his latest single and give everyone a taste of the sound coming out of Montreal, Suray Sertin spun up a mix that’s brimming with stunning tracks. Not only did he curate some gems from the likes of Phlegmatic Dogs, Odd Mob, Mochakk, and Chloé Robinson, but he layered in a number of his own singles and unreleased tunes.

Montreal’s electronic music scene is truly something else. As a Montrealer, I’ve had the opportunity to immerse myself in the city’s vibrant music culture fully. From being at underground raves to seeing world-class DJs at festivals, Montreal has introduced me to so many different and talented artists. It’s also inspired me to explore my own creative side. All in all, Montreal’s electronic music scene has had a decent impact on me, and I’m grateful to be a part of such a thriving community.
