Grimes brought new technology to the next level at her performance at Ultra Music Festival as she debuted her ELF.TECH project.
Leading the electronic music world into the center of AI technology, Grimes has been at the forefront of innovation. From her completely immersive stage sets with gigantic elven creatures to her activity in the modern tech world and combining her two passions, there is always something new to discover with the “Shinigami Eyes” songstress. Fans were stunned by the debut of her new stage setup at EDC Las Vegas last year with her “Space Drop” showcase, and she has continued to level up each performance. Just this past week, Grimes brought a whole new level of interaction with the crowd by adding a whole new element to the show – a token to take home.
Under the ELF.TECH neural network project, the syzygy of AI, and live music come together. Fans got to experience the ELF.TECH ART RAVE at Ultra Music Festival in Miami with the help of CreateSafe’s Triniti technology. The app is an AI operating system that allows artists to deliver their music and distribute it across all sorts of platforms, including video games, live performances, streaming websites, and more. Combining this with technology from the digital art collection platform Zora, those that attended the otherworldly experience got to leave with a little piece of the memory- their very own virtual Grimes avatar, with a plethora of experiences attached to it.
We are trying new things and working hard to put out cool art with fun ideas. This is about eventually allowing people to become architects within the playground and boundaries of an ever-changing digital and physical entertainment landscape. I wanted to push the limits of how much innovation can happen at once at a live show. Which we did, utilizing AI, AR, BCI, art, music, and Web3. All within the same 24 hours.

The Grimes Gen 1 Avatars are free avatars available to those who attended the set, which unlocks access to their very own free digital avatar to download, and which is mintable on Zora. Each avatar is developed by AI, with an individual design that unlocks the ELF.TECH web universe, accessed by uploading their Ultra content to the server. Fans can conquer fantasy side quests and access the ELF.TECH OpenSea profile, and even achieve exclusive access to music projects ahead of time. This is ideal access to have, as Grimes has announced the making of her sixth studio album in the works, BOOK 1.
Previews of the new album were featured in her Ultra set, with carefully curated AI-developed visuals to back the journey of the experience. If that isn’t impressive enough, some lucky fans were brought onstage to add their own version of art to the experience, getting their live brain frequencies during a Q&A, recorded and developed by Neurosity and Grimes’ own AI chatbot program, GRiMES V1, which fed back into the visuals of the performance.
This combination of music, AI, computer science, and visual art speak levels to what listeners hope artists will put into the universe, and creators like Grimes bring those visions to life. To experience the ELF.TECH universe, head over to the official website, which is now open with the avatars available for a few more days. Check back to stay tuned on the development of Grimes’ projects!
