From Micheal Swier and Another Planet Entertainment comes The Bellwether, a new event and music space opening this spring.

A new independent venue is coming to shake up the Los Angeles scene and face off with some of the industry’s biggest names. From the minds of Teragram Ballroom and Moroccan Lounge’s Michael Swier and Another Planet Entertainment’s Gregg Perloff comes The Bellwether. Set to open this spring, the multi-genre music and nightlife space will be the first venue for APE in LA, which famously operates venues in the Bay Area, as well as co-produces Outside Lands and Life is Beautiful as the largest independent promoter in the US.

Located nearby Downtown LA, The Bellwether is positioned to become a bustling destination as music events and gatherings continue to recover from the pandemic. The beautifully renovated, 1,600-person capacity main room features unimpeded sight lines of the stage, a 270º wrap-around balcony, and a custom-patterned wooden dance floor. Also within the venue can be found a large private event space, a restaurant, a massive bar, and an open-air lounge boasting panoramic views of the surrounding skyline and mountains.

The Bellwether is destined to become a cultural institution in Los Angeles, featuring some of the greatest local and international talent. It’s been many years since I’ve spent time producing shows in LA, and it took a building with the potential of The Bellwether to excite me enough to return. I’m thrilled to get back into the market, and I can’t think of a better location for what we’re setting to accomplish.

Independent venues serve as discovery grounds and cultivators of rising artists. Fans can expect to see smaller artists breaking into the scene and larger acts who want to take advantage of the intimate space across all genres, whether that’s electronic, punk, rock, or hip-hop. The Bellwether’s opening is a beacon of hope for not only music fans, who can see a thriving return of the live music industry, but for independent companies as well, proving that it is possible to create successful spaces and book top tier talent.

Though the opening date and artist lineups are yet to be announced, the buzz around The Bellwether is undeniable. Make sure to visit their website and keep an eye on socials for news regarding this highly-anticipated venue.
