‘Glide’ Into a Tapestry of Eclectic Sounds with Alex Poet’s Latest EP

in Album Review

Alex Poet conjures up an infectious work of art for his latest release, Glide, that’s out now on Hot Slice Recordings.

London-based DJ and producer Alex Poet has been ascending the ranks of the house music scene, continuously honing his abilities as a tastemaker while staying true to his signature house music roots. Propelled by his innovative and versatile approach to music, he’s striking down a new path with his latest record, Glide, out on his imprint, Hot Slice Recordings. The EP demonstrates his impeccable dance floor sensibilities with much to appreciate from this rising electronic artist.

The title track, “Glide,” opens the collection and features a compelling ambiance paired with propelling kick drums and an alluring vocal cut. Crafted with an energetic summer anthem in mind, the song descends deep into the inner workings of the DJ right from the start. As he constantly strives to create a collective space through music where people can unite on the dance floor, the rest of the EP flirts with unquenchable grooves.

“Evergreen” gives the listeners a taste of vibrant percussion drums that marks a sun-kissed melodic vibe. From start to end, a breezy soundscape balances the gap between mellow and heavy. Then, the creative artist engulfs the listeners with a boisterous fire in “Mano” – a warm offering, rich with layers of jazz harmonies and instantly head-bopping melodies.

Placing a central focus on music experimentations, Alex Poet has a unique propensity for creating uplifting melodies. “Pure” overflows with deep electro-house sensibilities and commands intoxicating synth works. The richly energetic cut leads smoothly to the finale of the EP in a masterfully arranged format. As a wrap, “The Thing” lets off a spicier side of the EP as it oozes with killer beats to deliver a compulsive experience. This is a powerful listener from its first note, which continues to transform into something altogether hypnotic.

As an ode to Alex Poet’s new musical chapter, Glide stands out in a saturated house music space as the record is a distinct move towards an edgier styling crafted for all those who missed the summery vibes and energetic rave scene under the scorching heat. Whatever you vibe with, you will find your favorite in this record.
