UK-based artist Benny L is ready to launch into the depths of space with his newly-minted imprint TrES-2b and its debut single “Alchemy.”
Raised in a musically inclined household, London-based producer Benny L was versatile in several instruments; he played the drums, piano, trumpet, the violin and perfected his craft over the years. After hours of watching his older brother spinning tracks in his room one day, he became fascinated with DJing, and the rest is history. Now, after releasing tracks like “Sharks” and a remix of John Holt’s “Police In Helicopter” among others on RAM Records and Hospital Records, Benny L sets off to embark on a new journey as the leader of the label he is calling TrES-2b.
In this new chapter of his freshly minted drum and bass imprint, Benny L is gearing up to offer cutting-edge sounds without forgetting where he came from. His love for sci-fi and space inspired the name of his platform – TrES-2b is known to be the “darkest exoplanet,” which gives back less than a percent of any light appearing like a black hole. This offers insight into what’s to come from the tunes found on this fresh imprint, and the first taste has arrived in the form of his latest single “Alchemy,” as well.
“Alchemy” showcases Benny L’s immense production prowess while the vocals from Shady Novelle only further add to the dreamy ambiance that’s found within its six-minute-long runtime. Crafted while stuck in quarantine in New Zealand, it’s filled with cranking breaks that will energize your soul. “Shady sent vocals over to me for a different track I had already made,” Benny L stated. “I felt compelled to take some of what she sent to build another new track around it and Alchemy was born.”
Future releases that lay ahead for Benny L’s new imprint include tunes from heavyweights such as Bladerunner, Shabba D, Inja, along with more with Shady Novelle as well. The rest of 2022 appears to be pretty stacked for this producer, so make sure you stay tuned by following him on social media.
