Rising techno artist NEKTER is causing a stir with her impressive sets and swung by to deliver a special mix filled with heaters.
Los Angeles has become a proving ground for many aspiring DJs since the earliest days of the dance music scene and one of the latest who is beginning to gain some serious ground is NEKTER. This techno DJ has made a lasting impression on fans in the underground after winning the 2021 REFORM DJ Contest that was hosted by 6AM Group and Synthetik Minds – and there’s seemingly nothing standing in her way as she continues on her path of domination.
From playing warehouse events with Berlin/LA-based all-female hard techno collective Fallen Angel Techno to taking the stage at Compound NYE + NYD and RE/FORM last year, NEKTER has clearly honed in on her craft. Her signature style infuses a touch of funk with basslines that will eat you up and spit you out as she takes control of your soul, making each set she plays one that will leave you craving more.
As the harder side of techno continues to rise with each passing day, NEKTER is an artist who quite simply needs to be on your radar. Last night she went back-to-back at Day & Night’s Boiler Room with another rising star in the techno scene, Clawz, and today she’s gifted us with the final mix for this year’s run of Winter Waveforms mixes. NEKTER keeps the underground energy pumping through everyone’s veins across its 48-minute runtime, so give it a spin and get to groovin’.
I’m continuously crate-digging (virtually) for new tracks, so I’m grateful for the opportunity to mix some fresh finds. This hypnotic kind of techno groove is a signature sound of mine. It’s got that funk with a nasty little bass line. Happy listening!
