Stockholm’s beloved venue and host to the biggest stars in the show business, Ericsson Globe, has been renamed to become the Avicii Arena.

It has been three years since the passing of Swedish producer Avicii and tributes to honor the late international dance music star continues to roll in. Riding the heels of the news that a biography on his life will be arriving in the coming months, the iconic globe venue in Stockholm, Sweden formerly known as the Ericsson Globe, unveiled the details that effective today it will be called the Avicii Arena.

The new moniker for the arena is possible thanks to the collaboration with ASM Global, Stockholm Live, the Tim Bergling Foundation, and naming rights sponsors, Trygg-Hansa and Bauhaus. The name change also marks the beginning of a joint-effort initiative that the Tim Bergling foundation started as a project called “For A Better Day” geared towards spreading mental health awareness and suicide prevention among the young population of Sweden.

Moving forward, there will be a focus on hosting events and activities with young people’s mental health in mind and the Avicii Arena will serve as a haven where people can meet and connect. Prioritizing the societal issue dear to the Bergling family’s heart as a focal point gives further meaning behind the name change to Sweden’s historical landmark.

It was a significant milestone in Tim’s career when he played here 9 years ago, and he would be extremely proud that this iconic building from today will bear his name.

Klas Bergling, Avicii’s father

To commemorate Sweden’s and dance music momentous day, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra recorded a symphonic version of the late producer’s “For A Better Day” song sung by 14-year-old Ella Tiritiello from Kristianstad. The recording of the cover took place atop of the now Avicii Arena.
