tiedye ky dropped a music video for “Living Right Now” that’s a love letter to Philadelphia and the memories he and Pipus shared.

Following the success of his debut album Baby Blue and the Super Moon, rising star tiedye ky has released a companion music video for one of the tracks on the project, “Living Right Now.“ Influenced by psychedelic indie rock, ’90s jungle, and contemporary trap music, this specific song showcases why this Philadelphia-based artist has been turning heads in the scene as of late.

The video goes beyond just showcasing the stunning music tiedye ky creates but also acts as a tribute to his late friend Matthew “Pipus” Larsen. A prominent member of the Philadelphia creative community who was also featured on the album, the video honors Pipus’ legacy with its nostalgic feel with sepia tones while set in locations that he loved the most.

When I heard of [pipus’] passing, I didn’t believe it at first. I almost laughed and thought ‘man he really got us this time, this will be his ultimate skit. It’s his way of putting on his greatest show.’ He was always smiling, always laughing so hard. His presence in a room outshined and broke down the very walls he stood within.
When I got home from his funeral, I wallowed in front of my computer for a bit before writing easily one of my favorite songs ever in a single session. From start to finish, I spilled my emotions in one swift motion.

There’s a certain sadness while watching the video, but also a distinct feeling of love and warmth as well. Whatever you have going on in your life, tiedye ky encourages everyone to ask themselves “Am I living right now?” Heartwarmingly, the video ends with a dedication to Pipus as well as some candid phone videos of him goofing around in tiedye ky’s home studio. It is a beautiful reminder to hold dear the time we have remaining with the loved ones around us and to never take anything for granted.

This tribute video is also meant to raise awareness for tiedye ky’s launch of the Pipus Forever Mural Project. The goal of the non-profit is to have a permanent mural of Pipus put up in Philadelphia, and all funds raised will go towards the application process for the mural as well as paying for an artist and materials.
